How we make money — plainly.
Placetrics is free to use, ad-free, and not VC-funded. Some of the recommended-provider links on the site (broadband, mortgage brokers, removals, etc.) earn us a small commission if you sign up. This page is the full record: which partners, how we choose them, and how we keep editorial separate from commercial.
Editorial separation
- Affiliate revenue never determines the data we show, the scores we award, or which areas appear in "best of" lists.
- We only partner with providers we'd use ourselves, chosen on price + customer reviews, not on commission size.
- Every paid link on the site is marked
rel="sponsored nofollow"per Google's link spec, and labelled "Recommended provider" or "Sponsored" in the UI. - We disclose at the section level ("Some of these links earn us a commission") AND on this dedicated page — required by the UK Competition & Markets Authority (CMA) and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).
- If a partner becomes uncompetitive or unethical, we drop them. Recent removals appear in the /changelog.
Who we work with
A "live" partner has a real tracking link wired up; a "scaffolded" partner is in the config but currently renders no link to users (no money flows yet).

Locations on the site
Once partners go live, paid links appear in clearly-marked recommended-provider sections of these pages — never inside editorial content, never inline in a headline, never as a ranking factor:
- /moving-to/[area] — broadband, energy, removals, mortgage, deposit, referencing CTAs
- Cost section of every neighbourhood page — mortgage broker CTAs (when buying figures display)
- Postcode pages — broadband & energy CTAs alongside the connectivity section
- Rent sections — "Browse listings on OpenRent" / "Find rooms on SpareRoom" CTAs
What we will and won't do
- No display ads. No banner ads, no auto-playing video, no programmatic adtech tracking.
- No paid placement. Estate agents, councils and developers cannot buy higher rankings or featured slots.
- No data resale. We never sell user data — to anyone, for any reason.
- Yes to B2B data licensing. Paid CSV exports / API access for estate agents, mortgage brokers and relocation firms is a planned revenue line, completely separate from the consumer site.
