A free, honest picture of every UK neighbourhood.
Placetrics turns 40+ official UK datasets into one comparable view of every postcode in England and Wales — rent, crime, schools, transport, broadband, demographics and more. We publish the methodology behind every score and link every number to its source so you can see exactly what the data is and where it came from.
Why this site exists
UK property data is everywhere — and unusable. Rightmove and Zoopla cover listings. Police.uk covers crime. Ofsted covers schools. ONS covers everything but is laid out for statisticians. For someone choosing where to rent or buy, comparing two neighbourhoods means opening eight tabs. We built Placetrics to fix that, with a strict editorial line: every number comes from a named public source, with a date attached, and a plain-English explanation of how it was computed.
What we will and won't do
- Source every number. If you can't click through to the original dataset, we don't publish it.
- Be honest about granularity. Some metrics (council tax, salary) are only published at Local Authority level. We say so on the page, never imply they're postcode-truth.
- Explain the scores. Every composite score (liveability, safety, transport) has its own page on methodology laying out the formula and the trade-offs.
- Disclose commercial relationships. When a third-party link earns us a commission we mark it
rel="sponsored"and we say so on our affiliate-disclosure page. Affiliate revenue never determines what data appears, what score is awarded, or which areas rank where. - Update visibly. Every dataset refresh shows on the /changelog and updates the "last updated" dateline on every page.
Who's behind this
Built Placetrics after spending six months trying to compare neighbourhoods between three UK cities and concluding nothing existed that combined rent, safety, schools, transport and demographics in one honest, source-attributed view.
