What changed, and when.
We log every dataset refresh, methodology revision and content change here. If a number on the site shifts, you can find out why on this page.

Editorial redesign of the neighbourhood page
Replaced the wall-of-stats layout with editorial sections (cost / safety / transport / schools / demographics / economy) — each with a question H2, big-stat answers, an optional breakdown drawer and source attribution. Same data, dramatically clearer presentation.
- site
Trust pages added: about, methodology, data sources, changelog
First-class /about, /methodology, /data-sources, /changelog and /affiliate-disclosure pages, with Organization + Person + Article schema for E-E-A-T signal. Methodology now has per-score deep pages at /methodology/scoring/[score].
- site
Open Graph image generation
Every page now ships a per-area 1200×630 social card via /og?title=…&stat1=… so links shared on WhatsApp / Slack / Twitter / LinkedIn render with the area name and key stats instead of a naked URL.

Greater Manchester crime patched with IMD-derived proxy
data.police.uk doesn't carry GMP data after mid-2020. Filled the 1,294 affected GM neighbourhoods with national percentile rank inversion of the 2019 IMD Crime Score. Every page where this proxy applies carries a visible note. Combined coverage in the North West is now 100%.
- data
School spatial fan-out
Replaced neighbourhood-aggregated Ofsted figures with a PostGIS spatial fan-out: every local-area centroid is matched to schools within 2km, weighted by Ofsted rating. Adds six new metrics including schools_within_2km_count and nearest_school_outstanding_metres for all 35,672 local areas.
- data
Network Rail TTIS direct-journey integration
Streamed the 700MB Network Rail SCHEDULE feed to compute the fastest direct (no-change) journey from every local-area centroid to 10 named UK hubs (London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Bristol, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cardiff). 19,792 local areas ttis_direct, the rest estimated via reverse-fallback.
- data
Other UK metros loaded via OSM Overpass
Added 511 stops across Manchester Metrolink, Sheffield Supertram, NET, Tyne & Wear Metro, Edinburgh Trams and Glasgow Subway. Combined with the existing TfL feed, the nearest_metro_metres metric now has full coverage for the UK's six metro systems.
- data
Census 2021 demographics ingested
TS-series tables: TS007a age, TS021 ethnic group, TS030 religion, TS061 travel-to-work, TS041 households, TS054 tenure, TS062 NS-SEC. England + Wales local-area + neighbourhood depending on table. Powers the Demographics section on every neighbourhood page.
- data
Affordability + yield derived metrics
rent_to_takehome_pct, rental_yield_pct, years_to_deposit, mortgage_monthly_25y_5pct, ethnic_diversity_index, working_age_pop, net_commute_flow and commuter_town_flag computed from the underlying ONS / HMRC / HMLR sources.

Liveability score weights frozen for v1
After internal review, weights set at 30% safety / 25% transport / 20% schools / 15% rent affordability / 10% EPC. Choice of weights is editorial (not regression-derived); see /methodology/scoring/liveability for the rationale.
